Fred Pockrass.
Dr. Fred has been a restorative and general
dentist for more than 27 years. He graduated from McGill University,
Montreal, Canada, and began his practice in Ottawa, the capital
city of Canada, revitalizing the practice of a retiring dentist.
After eight years, Dr. Fred fulfilled a life-long dream of studying
with a meditation master in India and moved to the Himalayas. While
there, he created a Western-style dental clinic and until late 2000,
served as personal dentist to a renowned Indian guru and provided
dental care to clients from around the world. Always an avid student
of the latest advances in dentistry, he recently completed the acclaimed
PAC-Live program in Aesthetic Dentistry at University of the Pacific
in San Francisco, CA.
In addition to his dental degree, Dr. Fred holds a PhD. in meditation,
is a certified Tai Chi instructor, a lifelong practitioner of yoga,
and has taught these arts for 20 years. He has been a featured speaker
at international conferences on developments in dentistry and meditation.
His passion is transforming his clients’ experience of the
dentist and making each person an expert in their own oral well-being.
Dr. Fred is a member of the American Dental Association, the American
Academy of Biological Dentistry and serves on the Advisory Board
of the Academy of Intuitive Medicine ( http://intuitionmedicine.org
). He is Canadian and American Board certified and licensed in Quebec
and Ontario since 1981 and in California since 2001.
Dr. Fred is married to Ina Pockrass, whom he met on the Big Sur
coast in November of 2000. They opened the first office of transcendentist®
in March 2003 and co-parent two wonderful teenagers, Becca and Elliot.
Ina Pockrass is a branding and marketing expert
and practiced law for 18 years. transcendentist®, Inc. was co-founded
by Ina and Dr. Fred in 2002.
Ina’s legal specialty is intellectual property, the creation
and protection of intangible assets, like trademarks. She was partner
at the prestigious law firm Pillsbury Madison and Sutro (now Pillsbury
Winthrop), heading the firm’s West Coast Intellectual Property
group of 70 attorneys. In 1998, she moved her practice to Heller
Ehrman White and McAuliffe, continuing to handle high-tech litigation
for well-known companies, and teaching trial advocacy to young lawyers.
Ina frequently lectured on cutting edge branding and advertising
issues.
A driving force behind eco-dentistry™, the comprehensive approach
to sustainability for healing practitioners, Ina is chair of the
Board of Directors of Circle of Life, the organization founded by
Julia Butterfly Hill, the woman who brought attention to the destruction
of old-growth forests by living in an ancient redwood for more than
2 years. Ina also serves on the Steering Committee for Sustainable
Berkeley, a coalition of government, businesses and non-profits
committed to making Berkeley the greenest city in the country. She
is also a former board member of the Sustainable Business Alliance.
Ina has a BA in Philosophy from Mills College in Oakland, California
and received her law degree in 1985 from The Washington College
of Law at the American University. Before, and during law school,
she worked as a congressional aid.
Ina is a life-long meditator, practices yoga and the NIA™ movement
technique. She is the proud mother of 2 teenagers, Becca and Elliot,
both of whom have beautiful smiles.
